Broadcast to the Whole Council

Composes and sends an email (or text) announcement to all members, officers only, or a hand-picked list.

Who uses it
Financial Secretary and Grand Knight (both can create and send broadcasts).
Where
Roster → Broadcasts (`/dashboard/roster/broadcast`)

When to use it

Use a broadcast for meeting reminders, event announcements, fundraiser pushes, or any one-to-many message. You can send right away or schedule it for a future date and time. Email is the default channel; text is available if SMS is turned on (see text-messaging).

Step by step

  1. Open Roster → Broadcasts and click + New Broadcast.
  2. Choose Send as: Email (default) or Text message. Optionally load a saved template from the Load Template dropdown.
  3. Fill in Subject (email only) and Body. Use the formatting toolbar for lists, links, and attachments.
  4. Pick a CategoryRequired (meeting/dues notices) or General (social/announcement) — and an Audience: All Active Members, Officers Only, or Specific Members (then choose members).
  5. Set Schedule: Send Now or Schedule for Later (enter date/time in your council's timezone).
  6. Click Save Draft. For an email, then click Preview Email, then Send Test (a copy goes to your address). Sending to everyone is locked until you've sent a test.
  7. Click Send Broadcast to send to the full audience. Scheduled broadcasts move to the detail page where you can Edit, Send Now, or Cancel.

Tips & gotchas

  • The Send Test first gate is intentional — it stops a typo or render bug from reaching every member. Text broadcasts skip the test step.
  • Required category emails reach members even if they've opted out of General mail; use it sparingly and honestly.
  • Scheduling uses your council's timezone (shown next to the picker); past times are rejected.
  • A "Send Broadcast" button on a calendar event pre-fills a reminder broadcast for that event.
  • Demo councils still run scheduled broadcasts (they're user-queued), so test carefully.
