When to use it
Use digital cards so members always have proof of membership on their phone, and so anyone (an event door, a partner business) can verify status by scanning the QR code. The card shows the member's name, number, council, degree, and paid-through year, and the QR resolves to a tamper-proof verification page.
Step by step
- Open Roster → Member Roster and find the member's row.
- Click the card icon (credit-card symbol) in their row to open their Membership Card page (
/card/<id>). - Review the card preview. If dues aren't current, a notice reminds you cards are typically issued to paid members only.
- Use Card Actions to share it:
- Download PNG — saves a high-resolution image (800×504) you can attach to an email or letter.
- Add to Google Wallet / Add to Apple Wallet — saves the card to the member's phone wallet (each requires wallet credentials configured in environment settings).
- Members also receive their card automatically inside the dues-paid thank-you email, with reissue instructions.
- To verify anyone's card, scan its QR code (or open the link) — it loads the public
/verifypage showing Active Member or Not Current.
Tips & gotchas
- The verify page reads live billing status: it shows Active Member only when the dues invoice is paid or waived for that year; otherwise Not Current.
- The QR/verification link is signed — a tampered link shows Invalid Card, so the badge can't be faked.
- Wallet buttons need one-time setup (Google issuer + service account, or Apple Pass Type ID + certificates) in environment variables; until then they show a setup prompt.
- The card's paid-through year follows the member's actual dues-paid-through date.
- A reissue endpoint lets members request a fresh card by replying to their card email.
