Motion Log

A searchable record of every motion the council has voted on across all meetings this Columbian Year — the text, who moved and seconded it, and how it was decided.

Who uses it
Recorder, Financial Secretary, Grand Knight, and Deputy Grand Knight; any council officer can view the record.
Where
Programs → Meeting Minutes → Motion Log (`/dashboard/programs/minutes/motions`)

When to use it

When someone asks "what did we vote on for that charity last spring?" — or when the Trustees or a new officer need the council's decision history. Instead of leafing through a binder, the Motion Log gathers every motion from every approved meeting into one filterable list, each row linking back to the meeting it came from.

Step by step

  1. Open Programs → Meeting Minutes, then the Motion Log tab.
  2. Use the search box to find motions by their text (for example, "scholarship" or "roof").
  3. Use the disposition filter to show only motions that Carried, Failed, were Tabled, or Withdrawn.
  4. Click a meeting name on any row to open the full minutes that motion belongs to.

Tips & gotchas

  • The log shows motions from approved minutes by default — that's the official record. Writers can tick Include drafts to see motions from meetings still in progress; a draft row is tagged accordingly.
  • Search and filter are reflected in the page's web address, so a filtered view can be bookmarked or shared with another officer.
  • The vote column shows Voice for a voice/unanimous vote, or the tally (for–against, with abstentions noted) when counts were recorded on the motion.
