When to use it
Check the Star Council tracker throughout the Columbian Year to see whether your council is on pace for the Order's top council award. It rolls up program-activity credits, membership and insurance numbers, and the compliance prerequisites into one status. Review it monthly so behind-pace areas surface while there's still time to act before the June 30 year-end.
Step by step
- Go to Programs → Star Council. The top banner shows overall status (Achieved / On Track / Behind Pace / Off Track), awards earned (of 3), prerequisites met (of 4), and days remaining.
- Open each of the three award cards — Columbian Award (Faith/Family/Community/Life pillar credits), Father McGivney Award (new-member intake), and Founders' Award (insurance members + Fraternal Benefit Events) — to see detail and pace.
- In the Goals editor, enter your membership and insurance numbers (baseline, intake, losses, counts, quotas) and mark per-capita paid. These self-reported figures drive the McGivney and Founders' targets.
- Review the Prerequisites panel: Form 185 filed, Form 365 filed, Per Capita paid in full, and Safe Environment compliance. Each links back to the form that satisfies it.
- Click Download SP-7 to generate the Columbian Award application prefilled from this year's activity, then use Submit to Supreme to file it.
Tips & gotchas
- All four prerequisites must be met regardless of award progress — a missing Form 185/365, unpaid per-capita, or Safe Environment non-compliance blocks the award.
- Membership and insurance numbers are self-reported and stamped with an "updated N days ago" badge; stale figures show an amber/red warning — refresh them.
- Pace badges and year-over-year comparisons are projections to help you prioritize, not the official result.
- Keep program activities logged in the Programs area — pillar credits feed the Columbian Award automatically.
